Abstract

ABSTRACT
Social entrepreneurship allows us to conceive immigrants as actors capable of building their own
mechanisms for social integration in host countries. Nevertheless, the entrepreneurial capacity of immigrants
is a priority concern for the design of social integration policies only in a few countries. The
study of this phenomenon at a global level is recent even though its practice has a longer trajectory.
In this investigation, qualitative methodologies are used to analyze the contributions of social entrepreneurship
initiatives in the process of immigrant integration. The study establishes that many of the
social initiatives put in place by immigrants strengthen the creation of a virtuous circle that benefits
their socio-labor integration, increases their levels of education and reinforces their social participation.

Furthermore, these social initiatives offer important benefits to the social and economic development
in the host society.
Key words: Social entrepreneurship– Ethnic entrepreneurship– Cultural diversity– Social innovation–
Immigrants– Social integration.
