Abstract

This article is a literature review about consumer movements, whose aim is to explore whether there exist conceptual imprecisions and, therefore, misconceptions regarding consumer action. In addition, the article seeks to uncover the causes and ideology behind consumer movements. The exploratory
research allowed the comparison of qualitative approaches as well as correlational analyses. The article argues that consumer movements receive different names, but converge on their causes and ideology: the search for ethical organizations and an equal market.
